No. 1 Trojans fall to Beavers

Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and Notes

Oregon State defeats No. 1 USC: Less than two weeks ago, Southern California established itself as the country's top team when it routed No. 5 Ohio State. Rekindling the magic of the glory years of Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush was short-lived and its national championship hopes are in jeopardy. Oregon State stunned the visiting Trojans, 27-21, Thursday night for the first jaw-dropping upset of the season. The Beavers (2-2) turned the national title race on its ear and the reverberations can be heard in Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Missouri. (New York Times)

Where does it leave OU?
Scenario 1: Possibly No. 1 with a big win over No. 23 TCU this weekend, and a close Georgia and Alabama game.

Scenario 2: Possibly still No. 2 with No. 3 Georgia playing No. 8 Alabama, an impressive win against Alabama could close the slim 9 point advantage Oklahoma has over Georgia.

Scenario 3: No. 4 Florida plays Mississippi, who only trails OU by 42 points in the Associated Press poll. A blowout win by Florida and close games for Georgia and OU could leave Florida No. 1. (
