OU Targets Another California Prospect

Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and Notes

Shaw picks up scholarship offer from OU: Oklahoma Sooners offered Joshua Shaw (Palmdale, CA.) a scholarship, becoming the fourth player from California to receive an offer from OU. Shaw considered a three-star prospect at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, 4.45-40, who can play both sides of the ball, says OU provides an opportunity to compete early on defense.

Shaw told ESPN.com:

"Oklahoma just offered me," Shaw said. "That's a huge one, Oklahoma is a national program that is competing for a national title every year. They have a great defense and I have a ton of interest in them right now.

"Coach Bobby Wright is the one recruiting me and he told me they lose both starting corners after this season. With an opportunity to compete for early playing time and all the other great things about the school, I'm giving them a lot of heavy consideration right now."

As a 2008 junior at Palmdale High, Shaw had 443 yards receiving, 118 yards rushing, 40 tackles, six breakups and four INTs. Thus far, he has received offers from Oregon, Boise State, Washington among others.
