Sam Bradford named 2008-2009 Big 12 Athlete of the Year: Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford has been named the Big 12 Conference's male athlete of the year. As a redshirt sophomore in 2008, Bradford won the Heisman Trophy, given to the nation's best college football player, and the Davey O'Brien Trophy, awarded to the nation's best quarterback. The Big 12 award is selected by a panel of media based solely on an athlete's performance in the 2008-09 season. This year, for the first time, fan voting on Big12Sports.com was included in the award's final tally. (The Oklahoman)
