Sooners In Preseason Top 25 Rankings Across The Country

Here's a look at Oklahoma Sooners Football in preseason college football rankings from newspapers and various web sites.

Austin American-Statesman...
Oklahoma No. 3 - With four linemen gone, Sam Bradford might need his uniform washed this year. (Top 5: Texas, Florida, Okla., So. Cal, Penn State)

New York Times' The Quad...
Oklahoma No. 3 - Oklahoma's not going anywhere, despite facing issues up front and again dealing with Texas and an improved Oklahoma State team in conference play. The Sooners are simply too good, too talented on both sides of the ball, to take any major step back from last season. (Top: 5 Texas, Florida, So. Cal, Okla., Alabama)

CBS Sportsline...
Oklahoma No. 3 - Stoops is laying off criticizing the offensive line because he knows it's going to be great. (Top 5: Florida, Texas, Okla., Alabama, Ohio State)

LA Times...
Oklahoma No. 3 - Oklahoma's schedule is tough, starting with Brigham Young in Arlington, Texas, and there's also a nonconference trip to Miami to consider. Most likely, as usual, the Big 12 title will be decided Oct. 17 in Dallas, at the Cotton Bowl, against the 10-Gallon Hats from Texas. (Top 5: Texas, Florida, Okla., So. Cal, Penn State)

Kansas City Star...
Oklahoma No. 3 - If the line, with four new starters, steps up, Oklahoma has the goods, starting with Heisman-returning quarterback Sam Bradford, to make another run to the BCS national championship game. (Top 5: Florida, Texas, Okla., Virgina Tech, So. Cal)

Washington Post...
Oklahoma No. 3 - For Oklahoma, which has won three straight Big 12 titles, it's all about the offense -- and the Sooners' defense is starting to come along, too. (Top 5: Florida, Texas, Okla., So. Cal, Mississippi)

Sporting News...
Oklahoma No. 3 - January may be haunting the program, but not December. Oklahoma has become the dominant force in the Big 12, winning six of the last 13 titles and three straight. No other program has more than two Big 12 crowns. (Top 5: Florida, Texas, Okla., So., Cal, Mississippi)

NBC Sports...
Oklahoma No. 4 - Once again, it looks like the Oklahoma-Texas winner is not only favored to win the Big 12, but possibly the national title as well. It’s unlikely that Oklahoma’s offense will offer the firepower of 2008, but punts won’t be seen very often. (Top 5: Florida, Texas, So. Cal, Okla, Ohio State)
