Ten Sooners Named to Big 12 All-Academic Team

20 players from OU, OSU named to Big 12 football All-Academic team: Oklahoma and Oklahoma State each had 10 players make the Big 12 football All-Academic team, which comprised 170 overall Big 12 football players. Six Cowboys made the first team, which requires a grade-point average of 3.20 or better: Senior offensive lineman Andrew Lewis, senior Mark Chestnut, junior Shane Jarka, sophomore Victor Johnson and freshmen Lane Taylor and Brodrick Brown. Two Sooners, fullback Brandon Crow and defensive end Auston English, made the first team, which requires a grade-point average of 3.20 or better. Crow is a special studies major. English is working on a graduate degree in social work. Sooners Ben Habern, Tola Jimoh, Travis Lewis, DeMarco Murray, Jonathan Nelson, Jimmy Stevens, Adrian Taylor and Carter Whitson made the second team, which requires a grade-point average between a 3.0 and a 3.19. From OSU, juniors Kendall Hunter and Chris Donaldson, sophomore Jamie Blatnick and freshman Cooper Bassett made the second team. (The Oklahoman)
