Broyles Named to Biletnikoff Watch List

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma receiver Ryan Broyles has been named to the 2010 Biletnikoff Award watch list released by The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. Given annually to the nation's top receiver, the 2010 Biletnikoff award winner will be announced Thursday, Dec. 9, at The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show.

The Sooners top returning receiver, Broyles set an Oklahoma record with 89 receptions in 2009 and tied the school mark with 15 receiving TDs. Broyles also ranked fourth nationally with a 15.87 punt return average. The MVP of the Sun Bowl with 13 receptions for 156 yards and three touchdowns, Broyles finished the season with 1,120 receiving yards, third best in OU history.

The Biletnikoff Award is the second to name Broyles to its watch list this week as he joined teammates Landry Jones and DeMarco Murray on the Maxwell Award watch list on Monday.

The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., (TQC Foundation), the creator and sponsor of the Biletnikoff Award (presented annually to the nation's outstanding college football receiver), is an independent, charitable organization founded in 1994. A number of people established the award and many more have contributed to its development as one of the most prominent in college football. The idea of a college receiver's award was not a novel one, as a number of organizations throughout America considered establishing it. The trophy, presented to each winner, is the most beautiful individual award in college football - it has won several national awards for design excellence and aesthetic appeal. (SoonerSports.com)
