Florida DB Ahmad Thomas Commits to OU

Miami Central safety Ahmad Thomas verbally commits to the Sooners: Oklahoma dipped back into Florida's talent pool for its latest football commitment Tuesday, as Internet recruiting services reported Miami Central safety Ahmad Thomas pledged to the Sooners.

"They are a great football experience. They have produced a lot of NFL players," Thomas, a three-star recruit, told Rivals.com. "I think that is a great thing for me. I feel it is a place I can better myself as a player and as a scholar."

Thomas, a 6-2, 200-pounder ranked as the nation's No. 53 high school safety by Scout, received a scholarship offer from OU defensive coordinator Mike Stoops last week. He had drawn interest from the likes of USC, Florida State, Notre Dame and Auburn.

But Stoops apparently commanded his attention.

"I just felt a great connection with him," Thomas told Rivals. "I did my homework and I feel like he relates to me. I feel the energy in his voice when he talks and that is the type of thing that hypes me up. I feel loyalty in talking to him. He was a straight shooter with me. There was no hesitation when I asked him questions." (More at Tulsa World)
