Oklahoma Tight End Suspended for Season Opener

TE Geneo Grissom has been suspended: Sophomore tight end Geneo Grissom has been suspended for Oklahoma’s season opener Saturday at UTEP for violating a team rule, a source close to the team confirmed to The Oklahoman. Read more:

Grissom moved from defensive end to tight end just before summer workouts began and was flourishing in the role. Stoops said two weeks ago that he'd moved to the top of the depth chart ahead of junior-college transfer Brannon Green and true freshman Taylor McNamara, who were battling for the job in the spring.

The next week, position coach Bruce Kittle tempered Stoops' sentiments, but did say that Grissom was the player in contention for the position who was “close to the compete package.” (The Oklahoman)
