Jonathan Gray Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

The No. 17-ranked University of Oklahoma baseball team's junior right-handed starting pitcher Jonathan Gray has been named the Big 12 Conference's Pitcher of the Week, marking the second time a Sooner hurler has earned such honors this season. Junior southpaw starting pitcher Dillon Overton achieved such recognition on Feb. 18.

Oklahoma Gray's arm to a 4-0 victory at then-No. 12-ranked UCLA last Saturday in Los Angeles. Gray put together a masterful performance on the mound for OU, fanning a season-high eight over seven scoreless frames to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Sooners posted their first shutout since blanking Baylor, 1-0, in 10 innings on May 12, 2012. Gray is tied for fourth in the league with 27 strikeouts while ranking fifth in opponent batting average (.187) and seventh in innings pitched (26.2)

Oklahoma opens a 10-game homestand at L. Dale Mitchell Park with a pair of midweek contests against New Mexico State next Tuesday and Wednesday. Both games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
