The University of Oklahoma rowing team earned its second-straight conference honor as the second varsity eight boat was named the Conference USA Boat of the Week Tuesday after a perfect 4-0 weekend helped OU win the Longhorn Invitational March 22-24.
Sooners’ second varsity eight went undefeated in Austin, Texas, and
posted double-digit wins in all four races against conference rivals
Texas, Tulsa and Kansas State as well as San Diego. Their average margin
of victory was 16.85 seconds, and the smallest win at the three-day
event for the OU boat was 14.6 seconds against San Diego.

17.1 seconds ahead of the Longhorns and capped off the perfect weekend.

The second varsity eight helped Oklahoma win all
15 of its varsity races in Texas. For the first time in program history,
the Sooners won every varsity race in a multi-day competition. The
three-day regatta was capped by a four-race sweep of the Longhorns in
the varsity events, a first for the OU program in its fifth season. A

This is the second C-USA honor for Oklahoma this season. The Sooners’
varsity four claimed this year’s first conference accolade last week.
Sooners return to the water this weekend at the Pac 12 Challenge in
Redwood City, Calif. OU will race Pac 12 powerhouses No. 2 California,
No. 9 Stanford, and Oregon State on March 30-31.
