Fans can join the Oklahoma softball team in a celebration of its second national championship in program history on Friday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Marita Hynes Field.

OU President David Boren, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Programs and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione are anticipated to make congratulatory remarks at the event, while head coach Patty Gasso and OU softball team captains will give their thoughts on one of the most successful seasons in NCAA history.

Fans will have an opportunity to express their congratulations to the Sooners and will also be treated to a highlight video, fireworks show and more. This free event is open to all fans and doors open at 5:30 p.m. Limited concessions will be available.

The Sooners captured their second Women's College World Series title on Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory over Tennessee at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Senior Michelle Gascoigne threw a complete game shutout with just three hits allowed and 12 strikeouts, while fellow senior and two-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Keilani Ricketts drove in all four runs, including a three-run home run in the third inning.
