Aaron Colvin, Gabe Ikard on Media Preseason All-Big 12 Squad

University of Oklahoma cornerback Aaron Colvin and center Gabe Ikard were both selected to the Media Preseason All-Big 12 Team on Wednesday. Both players are well-represented on preseason watch lists. Most notably, Colvin is on the Jim Thorpe and Lott IMPACT Award Watch Lists, while Ikard is on the Rimington Trophy Watch List.

An All-Big 12 First Team selection by AP and the coaches in 2012, Colvin led the team with 11 pass breakups, finished second on the squad with four interceptions and was third on the team with 61 tackles (47 solo). The Owasso, Okla. native has played in 39 career games (26 starts) with the Sooners. He opened all 13 games at cornerback for OU in 2012 after starting 12 games at safety in 2011. He owns 179 career tackles (126 solo), 10.0 tackles for loss, four interceptions, 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and 20 pass breakups.

Ikard was also named an All-Big 12 First Team selection by AP and the coaches in 2012. An Oklahoma City, Okla. native, Ikard has played in 39 games (37 starts) on the offensive line for the Sooners. A two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection, Ikard earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-America First Team in 2012 and was also a Wuerffel Trophy finalist. Ikard graduated this month with a 4.0 cumulative GPA in multidisciplinary studies and is currently studying in Ireland as part of OU’s Study Abroad program.
