REPORT: OU Baseball Hires Mike Anderson as Assistant Coach

Mike Anderson will become assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma, under new Sooners coach Pete Hughes, according to Regis' athletic director.

"I just talked to Mike this morning," Regis AD Kelly Doherty said. "He's been hired by OU. He's a good buddy of their new coach. It's tough to turn down that job."

Anderson, the former University of Nebraska head coach, was hired by Regis in December to replace Walt Weiss, who left the Raiders to become Colorado Rockies manager.

"We keep losing them to these great jobs," Doherty said. "Mike was awesome. I'm really going to miss him. I'm not in the mood to find a new baseball coach. But this is a great opportunity for Mike."

Regis went 14-6 under Anderson last season, finishing second in the Class 5A Continental League. The Raiders eventually fell to Chatfield a district championship game. (Denver Post)
