Texas Prospect Tay Evans Commits to Oklahoma

Oklahoma picked up its first linebacker commit for the 2014 class Tuesday when Tay Evans of Allen, Texas, committed during a visit to Norman.

He announced his commitment on Twitter, posting “So ... just committed to the University of Oklahoma.” He followed that up with “Boomer” hashtag.

Evans' father, Bobby Joe, played basketball for the Sooners from 1996-98.

Evans (6-foot-3, 202 pounds) is the 11th commitment for the Sooners and the fifth from Texas.

Evans, an outside linebacker, was offered in June but wanted to wait to commit until visiting the campus.

He got that chance Tuesday, stopping in Norman during a trip to visit family in the state. (The Oklahoman)
