Defensive End D.J. Ward Has Spleen Removed

Oklahoma freshman defensive end D.J. Ward underwent surgery to remove his spleen Tuesday morning, Sooners coach Bob Stoops said.

Ward will miss about six weeks and Stoops said there was a chance Ward might play this season.

Ward has not played in a game since his junior year in high school at Lawton.

Ward transferred to Douglass last season and played in a scrimmage for the Trojans. (The Oklahoman)
