J.C. Watts wasn't as piercing as fellow alumni Brian Bosworth or Jammal
Brown. Still, when asked about Oklahoma football this week by WWLS
Sports Morning host Bob Barry, Jr, the illustrious wishbone quarterback
had some interesting things to say.
"I saw where they said
Oklahoma State would probably win, or they picked them to win, the South
(actually Big 12) and Oklahoma would finish second," Watts told Barry.
"I just think that's probably where we are. I don't know who's going to
win, but I don't think that we are the Oklahoma of old.
"But I do
like what Coach Stoops is doing. I think as any CEO would do when you
lose market share, when you lose your oomph or energy or you lose some
of your special sauce, you start to shake it up. You say, 'We've got to
change the culture.' It takes a little time to do that. In business, if
you take a failing business, you've got to go in and change the
culture."
Add Watts to those in favor of Stoops' post-2012 season staff changes.
"I
think Coach Stoops is doing the right things in shaking it up," Watts
continued, "and saying, 'We're gonna be more hungry, we're gonna be more
committed, we're gonna be more focused. We're gonna get this ship
turned around and get back to the Oklahoma of the early 2000s when we
won a national championship.'" (More at Tulsa World)
