OU Volleyball Picked Fifth in Big 12 Preseason Poll

The University of Oklahoma volleyball team was picked fifth in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches’ Poll as released by the conference, Wednesday afternoon.

The Sooners, who are coming off their fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, finished 10-6 in the Big 12 in 2012, placing fourth in the regular season standings. Overall, OU posted a 22-11 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) was named a unanimous All-Big 12 Preseason Team selection, Tuesday afternoon. Joining McLaurin on the preseason team was sophomore middle blocker Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas).

Oklahoma’s season gets underway Friday, August 30 against Wisconsin-Milwaukee at the Holiday Inn Wet Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan. The Sooners’ home opener is scheduled for September 3 in a non-conference match-up against Arkansas. The Big 12 portion of the slate is set to begin at home on September 25 when OU hosts Texas Tech.
