Quarterback Kendal Thompson Breaks Foot in Practice

Oklahoma announced Thursday that sophomore quarterback Kendal Thompson suffered a fractured right foot on the first day of practice earlier in the morning.

Thompson was expected to battle junior Blake Bell and redshirt freshman Trevor Knight this preseason for the Sooners' starting job.

Instead, Thompson will undergo a surgical procedure to repair the fracture, which figures to sideline him for the rest of the preseason, and probably longer.

"We're optimistic that Kendal will return early in the season," Sooners coach Bob Stoops said in a statement. "He has a very positive outlook and is eager to rejoin his teammates on the field as soon as possible." (ESPN.com)
