A middle blocker, McLaurin hit .457 and averaged 4.62 kills per set on 37 kills to lead the Sooner attack in a 2-0 week. Last Wednesday, she posted 23 kills and hit .537 against TCU. It marked the third time she tallied 20 kills or more and seventh time hitting better than .500 this season. Against West Virginia on Saturday, McLaurin knocked down a team-high 14 kills and hit .345. For the week, she recorded nine blocks (1.12 b/s) and five digs.
McLaurin is just one of three players to garner four or more Offensive Player of the Week honors in a single season in Big 12 history. For her career, she has now won 10 weekly awards from the Big 12, ranking her fifth on the league’s weekly awards career chart.
McLaurin currently ranks second in the Big 12 in both hitting percentage (.452) and kills per set (3.78). However, she has played 81 sets and trails Texas’ Chiaka Ogbogo (.455) for first in hitting percentage, despite Ogbogu appearing in only 38 sets for the Longhorns.
The Sooners hit the road for a 7:00 pm contest at Kansas State on Wednesday, October 30 before returning home to host No. 1 Texas in Oklahoma’s “Pledge for a Cure” match on Saturday, November 2 at 7:00 pm.
