The Vikings general manager [Rick Spielman] was asked in an interview with Pro Football Talk host Mike Florio what might happen if Adrian Peterson asked to be dealt. Spielman wasted no time in his response.

"Adrian is not going anywhere," he said. "We have him under contract. He's the face of our franchise. He is a blue-chip player. And we have a new coaching staff in place, and (the Vikings are) very excited about what's coming ahead for us."

Peterson, 28, just finished the third year of a seven-year, $100 million contract. He had surgery Thursday on his groin, but Spielman expressed no concern. (Pioneer Press)
