Oklahoma women's gymnastics team is one of the nation's top two teams.
The Sooners held strong to their No. 2 national ranking for the week of Feb. 10, posting a season average of 197.300 through five meets. OU came in behind top-ranked Florida (197.365) and ahead of No. 3 LSU (197.296), No. 4 Utah (197.135) and No. 5 Alabama (196.930).
Oklahoma is also ranked in the top three on three of four apparatuses, coming in at third in the country on vault (49.455), bars (49.325) and beam (49.185). The Sooners are also fourth nationally on floor (49.335). OU is the only team in the country to own top-four rankings on every event.
The Sooners continue to display their impressive depth in the individual top 25 rankings, with eight gymnasts earning 11 appearances in this week's listing.
OU's vaulting corps led the way, pulling down an impressive four spots overall. Sophomore Haley Scaman paced OU at No. 7 nationally (9.915), while classmate Keeley Kmieciak appeared at 10th overall (9.905). Both Scaman and Kmieciak have scored at least a 9.9 or higher on every vault this season. Freshman Chayse Capps returned to the top 25 nationally at a tie for 18th (9.885) following her career-high 9.95 vault last weekend, and sophomore Maile'ana Kanewa earned a tie for 21st overall (9.880).
The Sooners' bar squad continued to shine in this week's rankings, led by junior Erica Brewer at 13th (9.875). Freshman McKenzie Wofford came in at 15th (9.870) following her second 9.9 of the season last weekend, while junior Rebecca Clark tied for 19th (9.855).
Taylor Spears cracked the top five nationally on beam this week, snagging the No. 5 spot (9.885), while Brewer tied for 19th (9.837). Scaman rounded out this week's rankings by picking up the No. 15 slot on floor (9.890) after tying her career-high of 9.975 on Sunday against LSU.
The Sooners return to action this Saturday, Feb. 15 at the annual Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. The meet will pit OU against No. 3 LSU, No. 17 Arizona and Kentucky at the Fort Worth Convention Center at 7 p.m.
