The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team rose one spot to No. 2 in the nation in this week's top 25 rankings, released Monday. OU used a 197.450 and a 198.150 to boost its regional qualifying score (RQS) to 197.640 and pass Florida in the weekly listing.
LSU maintained its No. 1 ranking for the week of March 10, edging out the Sooners with an RQS of 197.660. Florida fell to No. 3 overall (197.565), while Alabama held steady at fourth (197.320) and Utah re-entered the top 5 (197.225).
RQS is based on a team's six best regular season scores, three of which must be away. The overall high score is eliminated, and the five remaining scores are averaged. RQS scores are used to determine seeding for regional competition at six campus sites in April.
1. 198.175 (A)
2. 198.150 (A)
3. 197.700 (H)
4. 197.575 (A)
5. 197.450 (H)
6. 197.325 (A)
The Sooners own top three rankings on every event and are the nation's only team this week to own No. 1 rankings on two separate events. OU is ranked No. 1 overall on both balance beam (49.415) and floor exercise (49.500) this week after strong weekends on both events. The team also pulled down rankings of No. 3 nationally on vault (49.470) and uneven bars (49.405).
This week's individual top 25 is an outstanding listing for the Sooners, who pulled down 12 total appearances and five top 10 spots.
