The event will mark the first time since mid-January that Oklahoma will have its lineup at full strength. OU head coach Mark Cody said his squad has done a good job of staying focused despite facing some injuries this season.
“This whole year we’ve been staying the course and trying not to get rattled, particularly with the injuries that we’ve had and some of the tough losses that we’ve taken," Cody said. "I think the guys have done that. I know that they’re as ready as they’re going to be right now for this competition. It’s positive that we’re all back in the room, all wrestling live, all going 100 percent. Now it’s up to them how they’re going to go out and compete.”
Competing against this Sooners this weekend are No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 21 Iowa State and West Virginia. In Big 12 action, OU went 2-1, defeating Iowa State and West Virginia and losing to Oklahoma State. On Dec. 1, 2013, the Sooners defeated OSU 16-15 in comeback fashion in a nonconference matchup.
A total of 24 automatic bids to the 2014 NCAA Championships will be filled on Saturday.
