Divisions and opponents have been announced for the 2014 Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the University of Oklahoma women’s basketball team will play South Florida, Kentucky and Illinois as part of the Reef Division.
The 15th annual Paradise Jam will be held the week of Thanksgiving, Nov. 27-29 at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center in St. Thomas.
The Sooners will face South Florida on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27 at 7:15 p.m. CT. They then play Kentucky Friday, Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. CT and Illinois Saturday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. CT to close out the tournament.
OU will be facing the Bulls for the first time in school history, while it’s the second match-up against the Wildcats and fifth against the Fighting Illini. Both South Florida and Kentucky participated in the postseason in 2013-14, with the Bulls falling in the semifinals of the WNIT and the Wildcats’ season coming to a close in the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen.
Oklahoma is one of two teams participating in the Paradise Jam for the second time. The Sooners also were part of the 2009 Paradise Jam, finishing that tournament with a 2-1 record.

The Paradise Jam, held annually at the University of the Virgin Islands, has become one of the premier pre-season destination tournaments for men’s and women's basketball. It is a multiple team event (MTE) tournament, counting only two of the three games against participants’ 29 allotted games. Hosted at the $11 million state-of-the-art UVI Sports and Fitness Center, Paradise Jam attracts thousands of tourists to the U.S. Virgin Islands each year while immersing participating fans and teams in the culture and natural beauty that has made the U.S. Virgin Islands one of the premier destinations in the Caribbean.
