Activities scheduled for the two-day reunion are a Tip In Club Golf Classic, a Friday evening Wayman Tisdale Scholarship Fund Dinner on the Lloyd Noble Center main floor honoring OU's 1,000-point scorers, and a Saturday Legends Alumni Game at noon. The public is invited to attend each of the three events. Fans will be admitted to the Legends Alumni Game free of charge (must enter via the east doors).
"Our staff and players are really looking forward to what has become one of the highlights of our offseason each year," said Kruger, who has guided the Sooners to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. "This year we honor the 40 former players who scored at least 1,000 points during their OU careers. It's going to be great having them back on campus, as well as all the other former players and coaches who helped make our program what it is today. It's fun for everyone to reconnect with each other and to interact with our great fans."
The Tip In Club Golf Classic will be held at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (hosted the 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship) and costs $200 per individual (space is limited). Friday's dinner costs $50 per person ($25 per child). To register for either event, or to be a sponsor, call the OU Men's Basketball Office at (405) 325-4732.
Former OU players and coaches will be available for autographs on the court after the Legends Alumni Game, and concession stands will be open throughout the afternoon. Fans in attendance will once again have the opportunity to be photographed with current and former OU basketball players for the annual team schedule poster.
Last year, an estimated crowd of 3,500 watched Ebi Ere (2002-03) score 34 points to lead the Cream Team to a 102-99 win over the Crimson Team in the Legends Alumni Game. In a surprise appearance, Blake Griffin (2008-09) played the first half and finished with 13 points. He had four dunks in the game's first five minutes.
"It's fun, man. It's a lot of fun," said Griffin, a three-time NBA All-Star with the Los Angeles Clippers. "I think Coach Kruger's doing an amazing job when it comes to really getting the tradition back into the program and getting guys from past years to come back."
