Oklahoma AD: DGB Would Unlikely Be At OU After Heightened Sensitivity of Domestic Violence

In a story posted at SI.com, Joe Castiglione, OU’s athletic director, said the school likely wouldn’t accept Dorial Green-Beckham now that attention is being focused on domestic violence following the release of the Ray Rice video.

“If someone presented a case like that now, I think you would be fair to say that he probably wouldn’t be at Oklahoma,” Castiglione said.

Green-Beckham was dismissed from Missouri after he was investigated for allegedly breaking into the apartment of his girlfriend and pushing one of her friends—a woman—down some stairs. (The Oklahoman) Note: Green Beckham was never charged with a crime.

In the SI article Castiglione says..

“Just because of the attention and the cases now in the public consciousness, the university would have been unlikely to take on a situation like that..”

But Castiglione adds he doesn't want DGB to feel unwelcomed..

“I don’t want to create the impression that you are here, but you shouldn’t be here.”

DGB deserves a second chance, Castiglione said.

“Whatever he may or may not have done,” Castoglione said, “he is trying to become a better person.”

See SI.com for full article on Oklahoma ahtletic director Joe Catglione commenting on Dorial Green-Beckham.
