Sooners Baseball in the Desert for ASU Tournament

Oklahoma baseball is on the road for its second consecutive tournament as it heads to the Kansas City Royals’ spring training facility for a four-game weekend at the ASU Tournament hosted by Arizona State. Game one of the tournament is Thursday at 5:00 pm against Manhattan.

MBB: Neal, Bennett Named Academic All-Big 12

University of Oklahoma men's basketball players Tyler Neal and D.J. Bennett were each named to the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Team on Wednesday, the conference office announced.

The Academic All-Big 12 honor is the third for Neal, who was named to the 16-player first team (includes student-athletes who have recorded a 3.20 or better GPA). He was one of three league players who were nominated with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Bennett was one of 13 players named to the second team (3.00 to 3.19 GPA).

Barry Switzer Calls Johnny Manziel An 'Arrogant Little Prick'

Barry Switzer thinks Johnny Manziel is an excellent talent, but he doesn’t like Manziel’s attitude.

The 76-year-old, who won three national championships at Oklahoma and Super Bowl XXX with the Cowboys, was on The Morning After show on CBS Sports Radio in St. Louis Wednesday morning and was critical of the former Texas A&M star.

“I don’t like Johnny Manziel’s antics. I think he’s an arrogant little pr—,” Switzer said, according to a tweet from Tim McKernan, one of the show’s hosts.

Weekend Softball Schedule Altered

Due to Sunday’s weather forecast, No. 20/13 OU Softball's doubleheader against Arkansas-Pine Bluff has been moved from Sunday to Friday afternoon beginning at 3:30 p.m. The second game will follow shortly after the conclusion of game one.

Oklahoma Defenders Add Impact with Former OU Sooner Sam Proctor

The Oklahoma Defenders announced today the signing of yet another high caliber player, Safety Sam Proctor. Proctor played safety and special teams at the University of Oklahoma 2008-2011 with fellow Defender Ronnell Lewis; both players were then signed by the Detroit Lions in 2012.

Norv Turner: Expect Adrian Peterson to Catch 50-60 Passes

Former Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson is the focal point of the Vikings offense, but his receiving numbers have never come close to his sky-high rushing totals. In fact, he has caught 40 passes just twice in his career, with his career-high for receptions being 43. However, it sounds like AP AD will be a much bigger part of the Vikings passing attack next season, as new offensive coordinator Norv Turner sounds ready to get the ball into AP’s AD's hands out of the backfield on passing plays more often.

Turner told KFAN that he expects Peterson to catch between 50 and 60 passes next season, and that would easily be a new career record for the future HOFer. The Vikings OC said, ”I would expect Adrian Peterson to catch 50/60 balls next year.” (FanSided)

Hook totaled 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists -- all team highs -- but her final three points were the most important as Oklahoma (16-11, 7-7 Big 12) defeated Texas (17-9, 8-6) 64-63.

Former Sooner Ryan Broyles Says Knees Are Healthy

Former Sooner Ryan Broyles is currently in Dallas rehabbing and training. He began jogging two weeks ago and recently began running, cutting, jumping and rebuilding the left calf muscle that atrophied after the surgery.

"Every day I'm getting stronger," he said. "I'm four months out and can't wait to see where I'll be 10 months out. Right now I'm happy with my progress."

Golf: OU Men Win Spring Opener

With a three-round 876 (+24), the 12th-ranked University of Oklahoma men’s golf team claimed the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational for the second straight season. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, OU’s first of the spring, was played at the 6,765-yard, par-71 Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.

Entering the final round, the Sooners held a one-stroke lead and shot a 13-over 297 on Tuesday to finish five strokes ahead of 28th-ranked Baylor. North Texas took third in the 15-team field with a 33-over 885, while Louisiana and East Carolina tied for fourth with an 896 (+44).

Former Oklahoma WR Trey Metoyer Arrested on Another Indecent Exposure Complaint

Former Whitehouse High School football standout and University of Oklahoma player Trey Metoyer has been arrested by Tyler police on a charge of indecent exposure. He was dismissed from the Oklahoma Sooners team in October after a similar charge.

Tyler Police Department public information officer Don Martin says this is a new charge. Jail records show he was arrested at 2:42 p.m. Bond has been set at $1,500. More details will be added as they become available.

OU Football Changes Dates For Two Games

The Big 12 Conference announced Monday that two dates have changed for Oklahoma Football road games in 2014. The Sooners will now visit Tulsa on Sept. 6 and will travel to West Virginia on Sept. 20. The Tulsa game was previously scheduled for Sept. 20, while the West Virginia game moves up one week after originally being slated for Sept. 27.
