Renew Season Tickets, Get Free Spring Game Tickets

Oklahoma Football fans still have time to renew their 2014 season tickets online by Monday, March 31. Fans renewing their season tickets online by March 31 can request a free OU Spring Game ticket for each season ticket purchased. Fans who have already renewed their 2014 season tickets and have not requested their complimentary OU Spring Game tickets, may still do so by the March 31 deadline.

More Details Announced for 2014 Spring Game


Fans can help design the field for the University of Oklahoma Spring Football Game presented by U.S. Fleet Tracking. Online voting through Sooner Rewards begins today with six end zone choices and three paint selections for midfield. One fan will be randomly selected to win a VIP experience that includes field passes and a pregame photo session highlighting their field design choice.

The OU Spring Game will also salute the Sooner Jr. program with partnering elementary schools, including the Norman, Moore, Mid-Del and Oklahoma City public school systems. Students in those districts will receive a flyer at school in the coming days that can be redeemed for one complimentary admission. Students can present this flyer at Gate 5 between 12:30 p.m. and kickoff on game day. Parents can purchase tickets on SoonerSports.com.

OU students (with current ID), members of the Sooner Kids Club, children five and under will also be admitted free. For more information on joining the Sooners Kids Club, call (405) 325-6353 or view information online at SoonerSports.com.

Kickoff for the OU Spring Game is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The day’s festivities begin at 8 a.m. with the annual OU Spring Sale in McCasland Fieldhouse with vendors including the OU Bookstore, the OU Equipment Room, Balfour, Big Red Shop and Bedlam Sports selling a wide variety of apparel and Sooners’ merchandise.

At 10 a.m. the Sooner Jr. Kids Zone opens in the McCasland Fieldhouse parking lot. Free carnival rides will include Bear Affair, The Hurricane, Castlemania, Elephants and Boat Ride. Sooner Jr. will have interactive games throughout the morning promoting F.A.N.S. – Fitness Fun, Academics, Nutrition and Sportsmanship. The Sooner Schooner will be on display for pictures with Boomer and Sooner. In addition, Sooner Sports TV will host its live pregame show from the location starting at 1 p.m.

The third annual Big Boomer BBQ kicks off at noon in the Brooks parking lot, directly east of the McCasland Fieldhouse parking lot. A variety of barbeque will be available for purchase from Homeland/Head Country and Rudy’s. Water and soft drinks will also be available for purchase. A live DJ will be entertaining on the main stage with a pregame pep rally featuring OU Spirit and the Pride of Oklahoma.

A pregame ceremony will honor past OU Football greats in attendance for the game. The Sooner Jr. Spirit Squad will perform during the game and there will be a halftime salute to Oklahoma’s victory in the 80th Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Live music inside the stadium will be provided by the Pride of Oklahoma and “My So Called Band,” a Norman-based group that specializes in ‘90s cover songs. OU students are encouraged to join the team on the field following the conclusion of the game to interact with student-athletes during a free one-hour postgame concert (no autographs permitted). Other fans will be encouraged to remain in their seats to enjoy the concert.

OU Football season ticket holders can reserve their free tickets for the contest. Season ticket holders are eligible to request the same number of seats for the OU Spring Game as they have for regular season games.

Tickets must be requested prior to the March 31 season ticket renewal deadline.

For individuals wishing to purchase tickets to the spring game, they are currently available for $5online or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office by calling (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at (800) 456-4668. The price will increase to $10 on April 9.

All seating is general admission for the Spring Game. All normal game entry policies remain in place for the Spring Game relative to permitted items. Campus parking lots will be open and free of charge for fans attending the Spring Game.

Oklahoma Football season tickets for the 2014 season are available for as little as a $100 per seat donation plus the ticket cost ($443 per seat). Donor season tickets are limited and will only be available as inventory exists. For more information visit The Sooner Club or call at 405.325.8000.

Bob Stoops Addresses School Academics

Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops on Tuesday addressed University of Oklahoma's appearance on an HBO 'Real Sports' segment which featured student-athletes graduating with throw-away degrees or better known as a "football degree" at Oklahoma.

The segment features 25-year-old Eric Mensik, Oklahoma offensive lineman between 2006-2010, who graduated with a multidisciplinary degree.

Sooner Trio Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Grants

The NCAA announced that three University of Oklahoma student-athletes – Gabe Ikard and Trey Millard (football) and Sallie McLaurin (volleyball) – have been awarded grants to attend graduate school either on a part-time or full-time basis.

A three-run third inning and a clutch relief appearance from junior Shelby Pendley gave No. 22/16 Oklahoma (21-8) a 3-2 win Sunday over LSU (19-12) to complete a two-game sweep of the Tigers.

A day after Pendley’s heroics at the plate gave OU a 2-1 comeback win in the opening game of the series, Pendley’s biggest contributions came in the circle Sunday.

Baseball: Hector Lorenzana Named Player of the Week

Senior shortstop Hector Lorenzana (San Diego, Calif.) represented the University of Oklahoma baseball team in this week’s conference awards by being named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week. He shares the award with West Virginia’s Billy Fleming.

Lorenzana batted a team-leading .474 (9-for-19) in a 3-2 week for the Sooners. He scored five runs, drove in three and hit three doubles for a .632 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage. Lorenzana recorded three multi-hit games, including two three-hit games against Kansas State. He went 3-for-5 with two RBI, two doubles and a run in an 11-2 win on Saturday. Over the last nine games, his average has risen from .203 to .275.

This is Lorenzana’s second career weekly award from the Big 12 as he was named the conference’s Newcomer of the Week on May 13. This is the third award for the Sooners over the last three weeks. Mac James was named the Player of the Week (March 10) and Sheldon Neuse was the Newcomer of the Week (March 17).

For the season, Lorenzana has scored 20 runs and driven in 13. He started the first 75 games of his career at second base before moving to shortstop against Abilene Christian on March 5.

Rowing: Sooners Sweep Longhorns

The Oklahoma rowing team swept all five of its races against rival Texas on the second and final day of the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, on Sunday.

The Sooners won a total of 14 of 18 races over the two-day regatta, adding a sweep of UCF Saturday night and four wins against Kansas State Saturday morning. Every OU boat won at least once with the first varsity four, second varsity four and third varsity eight going undefeated on the weekend.

WGYM: Oklahoma Earns No. 1 NCAA Regional Seed

For the fifth consecutive season, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team has earned a No. 1 seed for NCAA regional competition. The NCAA announced today that OU is the No. 1 seed in the Minneapolis Regional and will face Minnesota, Illinois, California, Southern Utah and San Jose State on Saturday, April 5.

2014 OU Pro Day Results


Representatives from 28 NFL teams — including a running backs coach from the New York Jets and a special-teams coach from the Cincinnati Bengals — were on hand Wednesday for Oklahoma’s pro day, where 19 Sooners players worked out indoors on FieldTurf.

Jalen Saunders, WR (5-foot-8 7/8, 172 pounds) — Saunders ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds and then stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Saunders looked very quick and adept at catching punts. He has the look of a return specialist in the NFL.

Dominique Whaley Suffers Hamstring Injury During Pro Day Workout

Dominique Whaley arrived Wednesday at the Everest Training Center, hoping to show NFL scouts at Oklahoma’s Pro Day how well he’d recovered over the past several months.

His 37.125-inch vertical jump was the best among the athletes participating, but then came the 40-yard dash and, subsequently, another setback for the former walk-on from Lawton MacArthur.

Baseball: Mac James Named Big 12 Player of the Week

University of Oklahoma baseball junior Mac James was named the Big 12 Player of the Week by the conference on Monday afternoon. It is the first weekly award of his career and the first for the Sooners this season. James was also included on a list of six players for the Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week as presented by Collegiate Baseball News.

Former OU Kicker Patrick O'Hara Raises Money to Attend NFL Tryouts

A former kicker at Oklahoma, Patrick O’Hara wasn’t picked up by an NFL team after graduating in May 2012. It was a setback, but not discouraging. O’Hara continued to train and went to OU’s Pro Day in 2013. Unfortunately, the NFL didn’t call then, either. But for the last year, while working full-time as a personal trainer and wellness coach at a local YMCA, O’Hara has worked to put himself in better position to land on a team.

WGYM: Sooners Set to Celebrate Senior Night

The No. 3 Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team has reached its home finale of the 2014 season: the Sooners are set to face No. 21 Arizona State on Friday at 6:45 p.m. The meet will serve as Senior Night for OU, honoring its five senior team members for their contributions to OU gymnastics.

Former Sooners Nominated for College Football Hall of Fame

The National Football Foundation announced Thursday that University of Oklahoma alums Brian Bosworth and Randy Hughes are among the 75 players listed on the 2014 College Football Hall of Fame ballot. The announcement of the Class of 2014 will be made in May and inductions will take place at the 57th National Football Foundation Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 9 in New York City.

Former Sooner Blake Griffin Named Western Conference Player of the Month

The NBA today announced that former Oklahoma and current Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin has been named Western Conference Player of the Month for February. It marks the first time Griffin has achieved this honor and the first time a Clipper has won since Chris Paul (December, 2012).

A five-run first inning and a pair of home runs by sophomore Whitney Ellis carried No. 19/13 Oklahoma (14-6) to an 11-3, six-inning victory over Louisiana Tech (8-11) Tuesday at Marita Hynes Stadium.

OU Announces Student Appreciation Night for Home Finale

University of Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Lon Kruger and the OU Athletics Department announced Tuesday that Wednesday's 8 p.m. home season finale vs. West Virginia will mark Student Appreciation Night, with the first 2,500 OU students at the game gaining free admittance.

WGYM: Big 12 Honors for Albright, Capps, Scaman

Following a win over 15th-ranked Illinois last weekend, three members of the No. 3 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team swept through the Big 12 weekly honor listing on Tuesday. Haley Scaman set a conference record with her fourth consecutive Gymnast of the Week award, while Lara Albright was named Event Specialist of the Week and Chayse Capps earned Newcomer of the Week accolades.
