Report: Stadium Expansion Project on Hold

A month after the Sooners endured a disappointing season on the football field, News 9 sports director Dean Blevins confirmed with sources Wednesday afternoon that Oklahoma's stadium expansion project is on hold.

Sources said low oil prices and fewer donor donations led to the decision.

However, at the Oklahoma Board of Regents meeting in Lawton on Wednesday, OU president David Boren denied the reports, saying the expansion project was still a go and would be discussed at the Board of Regents' meeting in March.

The university issued a short statement after reports surfaced, saying, "The planning and the fundraising are going along very well for the Stadium Project. In fact, the project is already scheduled to be on the agenda at the March meeting of the Board of Regents." (News9)
