Former Oklahoma Coach Barry Switzer's Son Hospitalized

Former OU football coach Barry Switzer's son has been diagnosed with West Nile virus and is in an intensive care unit receiving treatment.

Doug Switzer became ill two weeks ago and was admitted into a Norman ICU Oct. 13, according to a post on his CaringBridge page.

CaringBridge is a non-profit organization that allows family members to make profiles to post updates on individual's condition and medical care throughout their treatment.

The post says Doug Switzer has officially been diagnosed with West Nile virus and began a 5-day plasmapheresis treatment Monday.

Doug Switzer is expected to be will be in the ICU for another two weeks, according to the post. (Tulsa World)
