Joe Mixon Praised By Former High School Coach

Running back Joe Mixon #25 of the Oklahoma Sooners celebrates a touchdown against the West Virginia Mountaineers October 3, 2015 at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma.
Oklahoma redshirt freshman Joe Mixon scored his first college rushing touchdown Saturday, which greatly pleased his former high school coach at Freedom-Oakley.

But Kevin Hartwig said it was a run that Mixon didn’t make that has pleased him most.

“He didn’t turn around and come home,” Hartwig said Wednesday. “He didn’t run from any of it. He faced the consequences for what he did and dealt with an extremely difficult environment and adverse situation.”

In July 2014, Mixon allegedly punched Amelia Rae Molitor in the face at an Oklahoma cafe, breaking four bones in the 20-year-old’s face. (San Francisco Gate)
