Buddy Hield has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week following his performances against Memphis and McNeese State. It marks Hield’s third career conference honor.
A 6-4, 214-pounder from the Bahamas, Hield averaged 27.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in an 84-78 win at Memphis on Tuesday and an 85-56 victory vs. McNeese State on Friday. He shot a combined 56.3 percent (18 of 32) from the field, including 60.0 percent (9 of 15) from 3-point range.
Hield scored a game-high 30 points (9 of 19 FG, 4 of 8 3FG) and added eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots in a road win at Memphis. The senior sank four free throws in the game’s final 14 seconds to seal the victory. It marked his third career 30-point game and the 30 points were just one shy of tying his career high.
