Baker Mayfield: I Deserve To Be In New York For Heisman Ceremony

Baker Mayfield, who was interviewed earlier this week on the Dan Patrick radio show, said he could see himself in New York.
“I think I deserve to go to New York, but I don’t know if I ultimately end up holding the trophy,” Mayfield said. “Those other guys that are gonna get invited are pretty special.”
After Alabama tailback Derrick Henry, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson seems to be a consensus second. Then there’s Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey. Including Mayfield, those four made the Camp list. So did Iowa cornerback Desmond King.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops took up Mayfield’s Heisman campaign in his post-game press conference Saturday night.
“I’d think he’d be as deserving as anybody in the country,” Stoops said. “I’m never one to say any one guy is, there are still some games to play here, but he has to be right up there to the top with everybody. I lose track of how many touchdowns he accounted for tonight, but he was special again tonight.” (Austin-American Statesman)
