Company Drops OU Stadium Expansion Lawsuit

After months of tense uncertainty, the University of Oklahoma’s stadium renovation contract nightmare is over. H.M.E. Inc. dropped its lawsuit against the university last week and Judge Thad Balkman dropped the injunction order, paving the way for stadium construction to carry on as planned.

“The bottom line is that H.M.E. dismissed the case and the order is lifted,” Judge Thad Balkman said. “It’s been a good week for OU. They’re third in the college football poll and it looks like the stadium construction will continue.”

H.M.E.’s lawsuit asserted that OU had unfairly awarded the contract to another company, W&W Steel. Balkman agreed in his October ruling when he put an injunction on the contract between W&W Steel and the university. (Norman Transcript)
