RB Samaje Perine to Undergo Surgery on Ankle

Samaje Perine will have surgery for torn ligaments in his left ankle on Monday, according to a Facebook post by his mother Gloria Perine.

Perine had chronic problems with his ankle during the second half of the 2015 football season. In the Orange Bowl loss against Clemson, he was sidelined twice after injuring the ankle.

Gloria Perine’s post asked to “Please continue to pray for my baby boy. He’ll have surgery on Monday to repair some torn ligaments in his left ankle … God is still in charge.”

Perine was asked, after the loss, if he was completely healthy entering the College Football Playoff contest.

“It wasn’t 100 percent going into the game, but that’s not an excuse I can lean on,” said Perine, who rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown against the Tigers. (Tusla World
