Report: Baker Mayfield Enters Concussion Protocol After Clemson Game

OU quarterback Baker Mayfield, who suffered an apparent head injury while making a tackle on Clemson linebacker Ben Boulware, returned to Norman on Friday and went through concussion protocols, according to a source close to the program.

For Mayfield, it’s the second time he has gone through such protocols in the last month and a half. The Sooner quarterback suffered a concussion during OU’s win over TCU on Nov. 21 and missed the second half of that game.

Because of concussion concerns, neither Mayfield nor running back Joe Mixon were made available to the media after Oklahoma’s 37-17 Orange Bowl loss to Clemson on Thursday. (The Oklahoman)
