5-Star Linebacker Caleb Kelly Commits to Oklahoma Over Notre Dame and Oregon

Butkus Award winner Caleb Kelly capped National Signing Day by signing with Oklahoma.

Kelly, a five-star linebacker from Clovis West (Fresno, Calif.), was down to Oklahoma, Oregon and Notre Dame.

Rather than announcing at his high school, Kelly opted to announce at Lincoln Elementary School.

Joined by his mom and brother, Kelly donned Oklahoma hat. His mom immediately went to the reverse “Hook’em Horns” to get into that Big 12 spirit.

He is a significant get for Oklahoma, which lost six linebackers from last season’s team. The Sooners have four other linebackers in their class already, including two from junior college. (USA TODAY)

MORE: Linebacker Caleb Kelly spoke with KSFN - ABC 30 about his decision to commit to Oklahoma.

QUESTION: What was the final determining factor and why did you chose Oklahoma?

Caleb Kelly - "Biggest thing it's weird because you aren't supposed to choose off coaches, but coach Mike Stoops just got a 3 year contract he was a big part in it. The other thing that set them aside from others, was I think I can make a change at Oklahoma, I just want to go and be something special over there."
