NFL free-agent tight end Jermaine Gresham continues to give back to Ardmore.
Over the past three months, shipments of new uniforms, travel bags, travel shirts, backpacks and hoodies have arrived at Ardmore High School, as part of a generous donation of $34,000 for the Tigers’ football and boys and girls basketball teams made by the former Tiger and University of Oklahoma standout.
Three weeks ago, the AHS football team was presented with 133 pairs of practice clothing, compression tops the Tigers will wear to practice and every day in the offseason, and lightweight shorts with a protective girdle underneath.
“Jermaine has always been kind of quiet, an under-the-scenes type of guy,” Ardmore football coach and athletic director Josh Newby said. “But he still has a heart for Ardmore. And we definitely appreciate it with the current situation everybody in Oklahoma is in.”
The “current situation” that Newby’s making reference to is the state’s $1.3 billion budget shortfall, and the education sector has been hit hard, which makes Gresham’s donation timely.(The DailyArdmoreite)
