MBB: Center Akolda Manyang to Miss Game Against Texas A&M

Oklahoma will be without 7-0 backup center Akolda Manyang when it takes on Texas A&M on Thursday in the NCAA tournament's Sweet 16.

Manyang's brother, 24, was found dead Friday at a treatment facility for substance abuse in Minnesota, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Manyang played in the Sooners' opening NCAA game against CSU Bakersfield, but missed Sunday's win over VCU. Manyang and his brother came to the U.S. from Sudan.

"AK's an important part for this team ... his presence in the paint and how he blocks shots and rebounds for us," Oklahoma's Buddy Hield said. "And it's sad what happened to his brother. But it fueled us in that VCU game. We were playing for him. (Dallas Morning News)
