A source close to the situation told the Transcript Monday that Henson is the favorite to be named Texas-San Antonio's next head coach. The announcement will likely come before Saturday's game against Villanova.
Henson has interviewed for openings the past two seasons. The UTSA seems like a good fit for him. Kruger, who coached Henson at Kansas State, a three-decade relationship with UTSA athletic director Lynn Hickey. She was the women's basketball coach at Kansas State from 1979-84. Her tenure overlapped with Kruger's stint as the Wildcats' men's coach.
