MBB: Pair of OU Assistants Could Be Named HCs This Week

The Final Four will likely be the last four Lon Kruger and current assistant coaches Steve Henson, Lew Hill and Chris Crutchfield.

A source close to the situation told the Transcript Monday that Henson is the favorite to be named Texas-San Antonio's next head coach. The announcement will likely come before Saturday's game against Villanova.

Henson has interviewed for openings the past two seasons. The UTSA seems like a good fit for him. Kruger, who coached Henson at Kansas State, a three-decade relationship with UTSA athletic director Lynn Hickey. She was the women's basketball coach at Kansas State from 1979-84. Her tenure overlapped with Kruger's stint as the Wildcats' men's coach.

Assistant coach Lew Hill is also a finalist for a head coaching position. A source confirmed he interviewed for the opening at Texas-Rio Grande Valley after OU returned from Anaheim, California. (Norman Transcript)
