Cornerback Spot Is Open According To Mike Stoops

After Dakota Austin's struggles in Saturday's 33-23 loss to Houston, Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said the cornerback spot opposite Jordan Thomas was “pretty open.”

Austin and Parrish Cobb, who replaced Austin for a time Saturday, are the most likely candidates, though Michiah Quick is also in the mix.

“We'll see who is the most consistent player out there,” Stoops said. “We need somebody to be consistent. You aren't going to win every 50-50 ball but you have to win your share.

“When they win every time, that becomes a problem. We have to technique better and give them better protection too. There's a lot that goes into it.” (The Oklahoman)
