Parrish Cobb Released from Jail After Posting $90K Bond; Suspended Indefinitely

A former La Vega High School football standout who committed first to Baylor and then ended up at Oklahoma is free on bond and a second suspect is in custody after a string of armed robberies earlier this month.

OU freshman cornerback Parrish Cobb, 19, was released on $90,000 bond Wednesday morning after he was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.

Ayorinde Gibson, 20, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by U.S. Marshals on a warrant stemming from the same investigation.

Oklahoma has suspended Cobb, whose bonds total more than $90,000, according to online records.

Cobb turned himself in late Tuesday after an arrest warrant was issued in connection with the most recent holdup at around 11:15 p.m. on Jan. 10 at a convenience store in the 100 block of East Loop 340, where a 27-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint.

The victim told officers that a Dodge Challenger pulled up next to him, a man got out of the passenger side of the car, pulled a pistol and demanded his wallet.

The day after the Bellmead robbery, Waco police officer Sabrena Swanton found the black Dodge linked to the robbery in the 1300 block of Calumet Avenue, an arrest warrant affidavit said.

The car had a temporary license tag, but also displayed a University of Oklahoma parking permit that the university confirmed had been issued to Cobb, the affidavit said.

The affidavit identifies Cobb as the driver of the car at the time of the three robberies and Gibson as the actual robber. (More at KWTX)
