Report: Trent Williams Allowed To Seek Trade

Trent Williams playing days appear numbered with Washington Redskins, again.

The organization will allow Williams to seek a trade after both parties appear to have reach an impasse over contract talks, according to multiple reports.

Washington head coach Ron Riveria’s chief priorities, when hired, was to reestablish trust in the fractured relationship between Williams and the club, he said at his introductory press conference in January.

Last month, Williams, Riveria met in Indianapolis at NFL Combine, in which, conversations were described as 'positive' and ongoing. Williams, 31, established a relationship with the veteran coach, team's front office after mistrust grew between him and the organization after misdiagnoses over a cancerous growth on Williams' scalp.

One matter separated Williams' return to Washington – an extension.

Considered among the league's elite tackles Williams lost over $12M in salary, when placed on the team's NFI (non-football injury) list after sitting out much of last year.

The club knew Williams' All-Pro talent wouldn’t come at a discount. Likely, seeking a similar long-term contract deal of other top-tier linemen, above $18M annually guaranteed.

Among possible landing spots for Williams: Cleveland, New York,  Los Angeles, Denver, Jacksonville, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin writes.

Williams is due $12.5M, non-guarantee, in his expiring deal with Washington.
