Scout: Adrian Peterson Was 'Mythical Greek God' Out of High School

Adrian Peterson arrived in Oklahoma as an Army All-American. But is he the all-time best recruit in the modern era?

After 300,000+ votes casted on 247Sports’ All-Time Recruit Bracket that includes 64 of the most highly touted recruits. Reggie Bush, a former five-star recruit from San Diego, Cali., joins Peterson in the bracket championship.

Peterson, a consensus five-star recruit from Palestine, Texas, rushed for 2,960 yards, 32 touchdowns in his senior season, averaging 11.7 yards per carry, at Palestine High School in state's 3A class.

Billy Burton, a 247Sports founder and former Editor-in-Chief of Rivals.com, watched Peterson raise to the top of Rivals' recruiting board, personally scouting him on multiple occasions for the recruiting service.

“When you’re looking for a No. 1 recruit in the country, you’re looking for that mythical Greek god,” Burton said, via 247Sports. “That’s what he was.”

The fan voters are suppose to take into account only their high school resume, not college or professional achievements.

In 2019, Peterson was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.
