After recording one sack, three tackles in two games in 2017, Tapper was sidelined, again, after breaking his foot effectively ending his tenure with the team. The Cowboys would waive him after being placed on the non-football injury list.
The Jets would sign Tapper to a reserve contract in January 2019, before waiving him four months later for an unspecified injury. In January, New York would give him another opportunity before waiving him, again, last month.
While at Oklahoma, Tapper recorded 13.5 sacks, 138 tackles, including 26.5 for loss in 38 starts in four seasons. He would earn All-Big 12 first-team honors by league coaches twice (2013, 15) and honorable mention in 2014.
