David Sandlin

Owasso right-hander who pitched OU into the 2022 CWS Finals

David Sandlin is from Owasso, Oklahoma. At Owasso High School he pitched only one varsity season, going 5–0 with a 1.18 ERA as a senior in 2019. He then went to Eastern Oklahoma State College, where he went 9–2 with a 3.18 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 65 innings in 2021.

Sandlin transferred to Oklahoma for 2022 and made 18 starts, going 9–4 with 102 strikeouts in 95 innings. He made the NCAA Gainesville Regional All-Tournament Team, then broke out on the national stage. In OU's 5–1 College World Series semifinal win over Texas A&M, he threw seven innings, allowed one run and struck out a career-high 12, sending the Sooners to the CWS Finals.

The Kansas City Royals drafted him in the 11th round (325th overall) in 2022. In February 2024 they traded him to the Boston Red Sox for reliever John Schreiber. Boston added him to its 40-man roster in November 2025, then traded him to the Chicago White Sox in February 2026 in a deal that included Jordan Hicks.

He began 2026 at Triple-A Charlotte and made his major league debut on May 27 against the Minnesota Twins, retiring 18 straight batters after the first inning. He shuttled between Charlotte and Chicago, and was recalled to the White Sox on September 13. As of October 9, 2026, he is a pitcher on the White Sox roster.
