Jaxon Willits

Shortstop · Los Angeles Angels · MiLB · active · OU 2024-2026

College World Series MOP who helped bring OU its first title since 1994

Jaxon Willits grew up around OU baseball. His father, Reggie, played for the Sooners in 2002–03, reached the majors and is now OU's associate head coach. Jaxon starred at Fort Cobb-Broxton High School, where he hit .620 with 42 stolen bases as a senior and was the 2023 Oklahoma state player of the year.

He was OU's shortstop for three seasons. As a freshman in 2024 his first college hit was a walk-off single against Nebraska, and he hit 10 home runs, all of them after April 5. In 2025 he started all 60 games, hit .302 and led the team with 56 runs. In 2026 he hit .313 with a team-high 20 doubles and 55 RBIs.

His biggest moment came in Omaha. He hit .500 in the 2026 College World Series, and his 13 hits set an Oklahoma record for a single CWS. He had multiple hits in five of OU's six CWS games, including three in Game 3 of the Finals against North Carolina, as the Sooners won their first national title since 1994. He was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player.

The Los Angeles Angels drafted him in the fifth round (141st overall) in 2026 and signed him for $647,500. He hit .305 in 26 games for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. As of October 9, 2026, he is a shortstop in the Angels organization.
