Christian James

Shooting guard / small forward · Club Atlético Lanús · Liga Nacional (Argentina) · active · OU 2015-2019

Houston wing who has played on four continents

Christian James grew up in Houston and attended Bellaire High School, averaging 20 points and eight rebounds as a junior. A broken left tibia in an AAU game limited him to two games as a senior, but he still chose Oklahoma over Oregon, Houston, Oklahoma State, LSU and Maryland.

James played four seasons at OU (2015–2019). As a freshman he was part of the 2016 Final Four team led by Buddy Hield. He became a regular starter as a junior, averaging 11.9 points. In his senior season, after Trae Young left, he scored a career-high 29 in the opener against Texas–Rio Grande Valley, then averaged 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds and made third-team All-Big 12.

His pro career started in Italy in 2019 with Fortitudo Agrigento, where he averaged 17.4 points, followed by Mantovana and Cento. He has since played in Japan, Indonesia, Uruguay, Venezuela (Trotamundos de Carabobo), England (Newcastle Eagles) and Slovakia, where he helped Slovan Bratislava reach the league final in 2025–26.

In September 2026 James signed with Club Atlético Lanús in Argentina for the 2026–27 Liga Nacional season. As of October 8, 2026, he is with Lanús.
