Spokane sharpshooter who followed his big brother to Norman

Jacob "Jake" Groves is a 6-foot-9 forward from Spokane, Washington, who starred at Shadle Park High School. He began his college career at Eastern Washington with his older brother, Tanner. In the 2021 NCAA Tournament the brothers combined for 58 points in a near-upset of Kansas, with Jake scoring 23.

Both brothers then transferred to Oklahoma. Jake played two seasons for the Sooners (2021–22 and 2022–23), starting the final nine games as a junior. As a senior he started 22 games, averaged 6.8 points and scored a career-high 26 on 10-of-13 shooting against Central Arkansas. He also hit five three-pointers in the Big 12 opener against No. 6 Texas.

Groves spent his final college season at Virginia in 2023–24, shooting 45.9 percent from three. He turned pro with the Sheffield Sharks in Britain's Super League Basketball for 2024–25. In September 2025 he signed with PUMPA Basket Brno, where he averaged 17.3 points in eight FIBA Europe Cup games and about 13 points in the Czech league. He left the club in December 2025 and returned to the United States.
