'Saber': the Sooner kicker who booted seven field goals in one game
Austin Seibert was born in Belleville, Illinois, and attended Belleville West High School before heading to Oklahoma.
At OU (2015–2018) Seibert did double duty as the Sooners' placekicker and punter. His versatility and reliability earned him the 2018 Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year award.
The Cleveland Browns selected him in the fifth round (170th overall) of the 2019 NFL draft. As a rookie he made 25 of 29 field goals and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. He went on to kick for the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions, and spent time with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints.
His biggest NFL moment came with Washington in 2024. In his Commanders debut against the New York Giants, he kicked a franchise-record seven field goals, accounting for all of Washington's points in a 21–18 win. That performance earned him NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors, and he still holds the franchise mark for field goals in a game.
In September 2025, Seibert announced his retirement from the NFL after six seasons. Sooner fans will always remember the kicker who could do it all.
